Functioneringssluiting stormvloedkeringen Nieuwe Watereweg en Hartelkanaal
TOTALE STREMMING DOORGAAND SCHEEPVAARTVERKEER
Op zondag 20 september 2020 zal er in verband met de jaarlijkse functioneringssluiting van de stormvloedkeringen in de Nieuwe Waterweg en in het Hartelkanaal, tijdelijk een totale stremming van het doorgaande scheepvaartverkeer op de Nieuwe Waterweg en het Hartelkanaal van kracht zijn.
Tevens is het verboden voor schepen en objecten om zich binnen een afstand van 300 m aan weerszijden van beide keringen te bevinden.
De doorvaart ter hoogte van de stormvloedkering in de Nieuwe Waterweg zal zijn gestremd van: Zondag 20 september 2020 van circa 02:00 uur tot 17:45 uur, of zoveel korter als mogelijk of langer indien noodzakelijk.
De doorvaart ter hoogte van de stormvloedkering in het Hartelkanaal zal zijn gestremd van:
Zondag 20 september 2020 van circa 01:30 uur tot 11:00 uur, of zoveel korter als mogelijk of langer indien noodzakelijk. De Hartelsluis kan vanaf vrijdag 18 september 12:00 uur tot zondag 20 september 11:15 uur niet worden gebruikt.
N.B. Het scheepvaartverkeer komende vanuit zee met bestemming Caland- en/of Beerkanaal kan gewoon voortgang vinden.
Indien door onvoorziene omstandigheden de geplande sluiting moet worden uitgesteld zal vervolgens de totale stremming ter hoogte van de stormvloedkering in de Nieuwe Waterweg worden opgeschoven naar zondag 4 oktober 2020 van circa 13:30 uur tot maandag
5 oktober 2020 circa 05:15 uur en ter hoogte van de stormvloedkering in het Hartelkanaal naar zondag 4 oktober 2020 van circa 13:00 uur tot 22:30 uur, of zoveel korter dan mogelijk of langer indien noodzakelijk. Op vrijdag 2 oktober 2020 12:00 uur tot zondag 4 oktober 22:45 uur kan de Hartelsluis niet worden gebruikt.
Op genoemde dagen zal het verbod tot doorvaart van de stormvloedkeringen in de Nieuwe Waterweg en het Hartelkanaal, middels seinvoering conform het BPR, worden aangeduid en getoond aan weerszijden van beide keringen en op de keringen zelf.
Verkeersaanwijzingen gegeven door de bevoegde autoriteit en/of vanaf de ter plaatse aanwezige patrouillevaartuigen dienen stipt te worden opgevolgd.
De desbetreffende scheepvaart wordt nadrukkelijk verzocht om zich op bovengenoemde
data vroegtijdig op de hoogte te stellen van de voortgang en/of enige wijziging van
genoemde stremmingperiodes.

Test closure on Nieuwe Waterweg and Hartelkanaal surge barriers
COMPLETE OBSTRUCTION OF ALL SHIPPING
Due to the annual testing of the surge barriers in the Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway) and the Hartelkanaal, all shipping will be obstructed on the Nieuwe Waterweg and the Hartelkanaal on Sunday 20 September 2020.
Furthermore, no ships or other objects will be allowed within a distance of 300m on both sides of each surge barrier.
Passage at the surge barrier in the Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway) will be obstructed from: Sunday, 20 September 2020, from approximately 02:00 hrs. (LT) until approximately 17:45 hrs. (LT), shorter if possible or longer if necessary.
Passage at the surge barrier in the Hartelkanaal will be obstructed from:
Sunday, 20 September 2020, from approximately 01:30 hrs. (LT) until approximately 11:00 hrs. (LT), shorter if possible or longer if necessary.
It will not be possible to use the Hartelsluis (Hartel Lock) on Friday 18 September 2020 from 12:00 hrs. (LT) until Sunday 20 September 11:15 hrs. (LT).
N.B. Vessels approaching from seaward and heading for the Calandkanaal and/or the Beerkanaal can proceed as normal.
If, due to unforeseen circumstances, the scheduled closure should need to be postponed, the complete obstruction of shipping traffic will be rescheduled at the surge barriers in the Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway) on Sunday 4 October 2020 from approximately 13:30 hrs. (LT) until approximately on Monday, 5 October 2020 05:15 hrs. (LT) and at the surge barriers in the Hartelkanaal on Sunday 4 October 2020 from approximately 13:00 hrs. (LT) until approximately 22:30 hrs. (LT), shorter if possible or longer if necessary.
It will not be possible to use the Hartelsluis (Hartel Lock) on Friday 2 October 2020 from 12:00 hrs. (LT) until Sunday 4 October 22:45 hrs. (LT).
On the days specified, the shipping ban at the surge barriers in the Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway) and the Hartelkanaal will be indicated by means of signaling in accordance with the Inland Navigation Police Regulations on both sides of both the surge barriers and on the barriers themselves.
Instructions given by the competent authority and/or from the harbour patrol boats on site must be obeyed directly.
Vessels likely to be affected by the obstruction are expressly requested to obtain timely information on the progress of the test and/or any alterations to the above-mentioned obstruction times.
